If you need to develop other author contacts, one great way is to start a membership with a state-wide Writers Association. I belong to two--the North Carolina Writer's Network, and Maryland Writer's Association. Summer weekend workshops, local chapter meetings, Annual Conferences, competitions, etc. Part of becoming professional.

Great interview, thank you! And perfect timing: I just finished reading The Favorites this week. Loved all the drama and intensity.

Hi Alyssa! Would you recommend going to a writer's conferences to pitch to literary agents? I've heard it helps aspiring authors branch out to people in the publishing industries, but these events look expensive, and I want to know whether it's worth the money to attend one.
