Happy Monday, writers!

As a Chapter Break subscriber, you have access to my weekly agent update list, where I round up profiles of literary agents who have recently opened their doors to queries. Everyone will get at least one profile; premium subscribers will get the list in full.

Perhaps you’ll find someone new to add to your to-query list!

Here are 13 agents who opened to queries in the past week (November 25-December 1), along with information about what they’re looking for, some of their published titles, and their query link.

Best of luck, and happy querying!

Note that this newsletter is purely informational and is not an endorsement of any particular agent or agency.

Ella Marie Shupe of Belcastro Agency

Through both adult and young adult titles, Ella acquires mysteries and suspense/thrillers. Historical thrillers are especially intriguing. She leans toward female and diverse protagonists engaged in complex relationships. Also, a well-developed atmosphere is crucial. If the only woman in your story is the victim, please do not submit.

Adult science fiction, fantasy, and women’s fiction are all on her list, but she is extremely picky. Only a standout science fiction, a well-developed fantasy world, or an emotionally charged women’s fiction will get her attention.

You can find more details about what she’s looking for on her MSWL.

Some published titles: Sweet Water by Cara Reinard, Hunting the Truth by Kathleen Donnelly, Microphones and Murder by Erin Huss

Irene Goodman of Irene Goodman Literary Agency

Irene is looking for non-fiction ideas, focusing on health, business, anything French, Judaica, cookbooks, and pop culture. All non-fiction proposals should include an overview, descriptions of each chapter, comp titles, and a healthy platform. Fiction should include the first ten pages, a complete synopsis, and a total word count. If you are published by a commercial publisher, please include who published you and give an idea of the sales history.

Some published titles: The Ark by Boyd Morrison, The Kept Woman by Susan Donovan, The Devil Amongst the Lawyers by Sharyn McCrumb
